Reception is where children begin their school journey in a safe, nurturing and stimulating Early Years environment. We place a strong emphasis on helping children feel happy, secure and confident, ensuring they develop a positive attitude towards learning from the very start.

Our approach is rooted in play-based learning, carefully planned experiences and strong relationships. Children are encouraged to explore, investigate and make sense of the world around them, both independently and alongside others. Through high-quality interactions and well-established routines, we support the development of communication, early literacy and numeracy skills.

We place great importance on personal, social and emotional development. Children learn to share, take turns, manage their feelings and build positive relationships, helping them to grow in confidence and independence. Adults provide gentle guidance and encouragement, allowing each child to progress at their own pace.

Reception is a welcoming, inclusive and caring environment where every child is valued as an individual and supported to develop the skills, curiosity and confidence needed for a smooth transition into Key Stage 1.

Reminders...

PE days are on Mondays and Thursdays, please encourage your child to leave their PE kit in school until the end of term and the teacher will advise if it needs to be sent home for washing.

All children do need a change of clothes; in case of accidents.  Children are usually happier to be changed into their own things, rather than any spares we might have.  These can be kept in their PE bags.

We really need the children to have named wellies in school.  We do not expect great weather this term, but would still like to make full use of our outside space – the children will be able to join in fully if they have wellies.  We would also really like to continue WELLY WALKS - children do need wellies for this.

If you have any questions or queries, please do ask either at the start of the day or when you collect your child at the end of the day.  We will do our best to find out the answers!
