Year 5
'Creating Lifelong Learning Opportunities for Everyone'
Welcome to Year 5
Year 5 is a key stage in pupils’ development as they prepare for the increasing academic and personal demands of upper Key Stage 2. Building on the foundations of previous years, we place a strong emphasis on independence, responsibility and high expectations, while continuing to nurture confidence, curiosity and a positive attitude to learning.
Our approach balances academic challenge with care and support. Pupils are encouraged to take greater ownership of their learning, develop effective study habits and apply their skills across the curriculum. We promote resilience, problem-solving and critical thinking, supporting children to persevere with more complex tasks and take pride in the progress they make.
We also place great importance on developing leadership, teamwork and positive learning behaviours. Pupils are encouraged to act as positive role models, work collaboratively and contribute to the wider life of the school. Social and emotional development is carefully supported, helping children to grow in maturity and self-confidence.
Year 5 is a purposeful, inclusive and ambitious learning environment where pupils are supported to strengthen the skills, attitudes and independence needed for a successful final year of primary school.
